Title

Lenora Barry, n.d.

Description

After the Knights of Labor legalized the admittance of Women in 1880, the union created a Committee on Women's Work. The Committee chose Leonora Barry (1849-1930), an Irish immigrant, one-time teacher, and former factory worker, to serve as a full-time General Investigator. Her duties entailed gathering labor statistics from around the country and encouraging women to join the order.
