"Dear Rev. Mother,
You wrote me some time ago that you had room for several children; therefore I hope it will not inconvenience you to recieve (sic), at so short a notice, two girls, tomorrow afternoon. One of them is a child from our school here, Willette Crawford. She has gotten into a little trouble - a note was written by another girl to a man working on our place and Willette delivered it. The girl that wrote the note has been sent to the House of the Good Shepherd to be placed in their preservative class, but Willette had no part in writing the letter, she only delivered it, I presume to accommodate the other girl. She is not a subject for the G. Shepherds, but I prefer sending her away from our school in order to give a lesson to the other children. The smaller child is from Philadelphia, her mother is dead and she has, I understand, been sadly neglected by her father, receiving scarcely any attention. She is I think a most deserving object of charity. The father has signed her over to us until the age of twenty one. We have the indenture I think she is suffering from some weakness in the kidneys.
Wishing you a holy Easter, believe me,
Sincerely Yours,
M. M. Katharine.
