Richard Neuhaus to George Higgins, 12/20/1982

Here Neuhaus writes to commend Higgins on a recent publication or speech related to Solidarity, the Polish trade union that resisted government oppression in Poland in the 1980s.  He refers to Higgins' experience and hope, but also to left and right political positions.

1.  What do you think Neuhaus means when he says "the inconsistencies of left and right"?

2.  How would you describe the effect of Higgins' words on Solidairty on Neuhaus?
